Sorry if this has been asked, but my Motherboard cracked a fat and audio stopped working. So I need to change out the MoBo, which obviously means a fresh install. I was wondering if there is a way to keep all my downloaded apps and programs and migrate them to the new PC? OS is windows 8 btw.

Just changing out the mobo won't delete items transferred but certain programs may be picky about the serial codes.

I found it easiest to contact the company and have them give me a new code (must have proof of purchase).. Not all handle it the same way.

I was going to upgrade the hard disk to SSD as well, which is why I need the new OS install. I should have posted that info. Sorry.

I don't think I've heard that expression before..

If you swap it with exactly the same board, you should just be able to use the same install. You may have to reactivate Windows, but all of the driver and device references will be the same.

Instead of swapping out the mobo, why don't you just get a PCI audio card and install it? Seems a waste to replace your mobo because the audio died.

If you swap out the mobo, you will need to re-activate Windows. Don't know if it will re-activate since MS considers a new mobo as a new computer.
