How to overclock?

I would like to overclock my amd x2 4400 and i dont acually know how i know there is a way in bios but how to overclock so i dont fry my processor and so it will work good?

What volt i need to have?

What temp should i be aware of /

How many fsb to go?

And stuff like that

I habe water cooling Zalman restrator(w/e how you spell it) 1 plus

Got a asus a8n32

Any advice?
 
Since your new to the whole overclocking thing, i would start off by only raising the FSB until it becomes unstable. When you get into voltages, its easier to ruin your CPU.
 
ok so once i raise the fsb so the system doesint boot i restart the whole cmos thing or w/e and then go back to the fsb which my system will boot in and if i wanna go higher then i increase the volts and then slowly the fsb right?

and the HTT BUS increase when i increase the fsb and also MEM CLK increase by it self when i increase the fsb right?

and what is the LDT/FSB BUS FREQUENTCY RATIO?
 
I would increase the bus 10Mhz or so at a time, and once your CPU speed has increased by 100Mhz, i would try to boot into Windows. If it does, then run a cpu benchmark to make sure its stable.

When it becomes unstable, increase the voltage slightly, then try to slowly raise the bus. This will work to an extent, after a certain point you wont be able to overclock it anymore.

Since you have an A64, you may need to lower the HTT multiplier to 4x, or 3x. You may also have to lower your memory speed (divider), in order for your computer to boot.
 
Sorry, but I'm just curious, why did you bought FX60 if you don't really know how to overclock, FX's are strictly for hardcore overclocking.

my point is to make the amd x2 4400 go to 2.6 ghz will it be posible?

And i have watercooling..and you didnt answer the guestion "HTT BUS increase when i increase the fsb and also MEM CLK increase by it self when i increase the fsb right"?

This has gotta to be one of the most common questions people ask about OCing and the answer is nobody can tell you. This should be somewhat evident from the previous question (i.e., if two "identical" systems have different ceilings than how can anyone tell you how much you can OC by?).

Yes, HTT increases when you increase FSB, you can decrease it by lowering HTT multiplier.

RAM clock also increases when you increse your FSB. You must set memory dividers, when you get past 220 MHz FSB or so lower the memory clock to 166MHz (333 MHz).
 
Just to double check, you are talking about overclocking the X2 4400+, and not the FX-60 right?

What is your desired speed, how far do you want to overclock, I can tell you everything step-by-step what you need to change to get the most out of your CPU and RAM.

and yeah, tell me what's the clock ratio multiplier, I don't wanna search now but I'm pretty sure it's 11X.

yea i wanna get to 2.6 ghz with some nice volts or mabye the same volts without changing and some nice temps not too hight and yea its 11x
