I have ordered a new Dell Studio 17 loaded with Win 7 and want to also install XP Professional. : 1-any conflicts with 2 operating systems, 3-which one boots up, 4-how to swap between the two, 5- where do d/loaded files go to. As you can tell I'm not that computer savvy and would appreciate any advice.

1-no conflicts because you only boot one at the time..
2-??
3-change it in the boot manager in Win7.
4-reboot and choose the windows that you want to boot
5-They are storade in a partition in your HDD and loaded to your RAM..(dont think is that you are looking for as an anwser..)

TIP: Install XP first in one partition and WIN7 in another partition so win7 loads the boot manager or else you wont be able to boot to Win7..
Hope that helps

The Dell is comming already loaded with Win 7--How do i make XP Pro the first. When i sign on will i be given a choice to choose one of the systems or exactly how do i get to each one. Can you expound on #5, do downloaded files have to be D/Loaded to each system seperately? Again, i am not well versed on computers---do i really need another system or will Win 7 surfice for just everyday computing- no Gaming or anything heavy duty??? Whats your best openion?

Well, have been working with XP for a lot of years, and never worked really with VISTA because it wasnt well designed (in my opinion).
When Win7 came out,i tested it and have been runing with him everyday doing evreything with him.
I think that you only gonna need a XP again if you need to use old professional software (like an invoicing program that isnt compatible with Win7 yet..)
Hope that helps with your decision.
