How to partition on new Windows install?

Hi All,

I have just finished a build and posted!

I have a 1TB WD hard drive that I'd like to partition a portion of the drive just for Windows and the other half for storage/files/etc. I was told that this is a wise thing to do?

Thanks!
Mike

I don't think it would really make a difference. My 250GB drive is one whole partition and it's as fast as when i installed. I have 40GB of games installed.

Download GParted Live and burn it to a CD.

It will let you resize partitions, create new, whatever you wish.

You boot to the Vista DVD, when you get to the hard drive setup page it will give you the option to selet a partition size. Install it on the partition you made. After the install just go to disk management and partition and format the remaining unallocated space.
