I am a noob when it comes to hijackthis logs and i was wondering if anyone can help me read these crazy critters. I wanna learn so i can do it by myself and just to help some other peeps. Any help would be appreciated. Thankx:D

Well when you look at the HJT log what do you see? "A bunch of gooble-de-goop" So whats the very first thing that comes to your head? (The correct answer is "google").

Well with some googling you can figure out what ths stuff is and then either more googling, more reading, experience or gut feeling will tell you if it's a bad thing or not. If it's bad, get rid of it.

Rinse and repeat.

So that is it? That sounds pretty easy why isnt everyone doing it?But wouldn't that take a long time if you googled each thing, is there a faster way to do it and what do you google, and how do you know if it is bad?

If you ever figure out the reason, do let me know.

Not really.

what do you google
To use the words i chose earlier, "A bunch of gooble-de-goop"

and how do you know if it is bad?
To quote myself,
more googling, more reading, experience or gut feeling will tell you if it's a bad thing or not.

usually, right off the back, you can look at suffixes. if anything ends in .dll, dont get rid of it unless you absolutely know what it is. some things will say {no file} at the end...of which you can usually delete. anything having to do with a website or that has a link in it is a tracking cookie, which also can be deleted. the rest is a big gray area..........

which is why its only USUALLY something you can delete. besides, i dont think there really are any hard and fast rules that can apply to this situation...certainly wouldnt want to delete anything important...
