How to recover data from flash drive?

I have a sandisk 512mb flash drive.

It worked fine until one day I plugged it into a USB 2.0 port (with the 2.0 driver instl) and the computer/OS would not recognize the flash drive.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can recover the much needed data that is on the flash drive.

I am not sure if the data recovery software out there is applicable to this type of situation.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

No data had been deleted.

I had just been using it OK the day before and saved the file I was working on and unplugged the Flash Drive from the PC.

The next day I plugged it in and it was not recognized.

have you looked in drive management to see if maybe it needs a drive letter assignment or needs formatted again. Mine did that. I had data on it and one day would not be recognized. had to format it again. lost all data.

Try other ports or maybe another computer. However, if the flash drive died, or if the Data didn't save, you might be out of luck. They don't work like standard harddrives, so recovering data isn't really possible...

do you mean that u dont get to see that flash drive in (my computer) ??
my guess would be to try and uninstall the (usb storage device) by using the administrative tools>disk management> and then uninstall it , then restart ur windows and plug the device again, that worked for me once.

djmhd79, Thank you for your response.

I do not have it in my possession now, but will have it in a week or so.

I will try what you suggested.

Have a nice 4th.
