How to restore Windows 7 laptop to stock?

Hey guys,

So I have this old Toshiba Netbook running windows 7, and someone wants to take it off of my hands. I want to restore it completely so it is like new, so I have 2 questions.

1. How do I simply do that?

2. It's important to know that I'm currently dual booting Ubuntu, so when I start it up, I get a screen asking if I want to boot into windows or Ubuntu, I want this screen gone so that it only boots into windows.

Thank you very much everybody!

You'll need to delete the partition that ubuntu is installed on. Did you install windows 7 via a microsoft install cd or did it come from the store with 7 already installed? There should be a recovery process in the start menu or you may have to press a certain key upon bootup to access the recovery process.

Could you be a bit more specific? where is the ubuntu partition and how do I delete it? It came with windows 7 starter and I used like microsofts upgrade thing to go to the next level up, I wanna say it's home premium, it was through microsoft and it was downloaded. Could you be more specific on it all? Thank you

Since you have upgraded you may have lost the ability to do a factory restore. Reboot the netbook to see if you get the option for recovery at bootup. Use disk management to delete the ubuntu partition.

I'll look for the recovery, but I really don't know what you're talking about for deleting the Ubuntu partition. Really, I'm just lost. I'm sorry.

Are you the one that installed ubuntu? You would have to create a partition for it using disk management. But you are basically stuck without the recovery process. As far as a netbook goes, you should have kept windows 7 starter on it as it would have been better then putting home premium on it.

I haven't looked for recovery so I don't know if it's there. I did it, but I did it a looong time ago, I remember it being surprisingly easy, and don't remember doing that. I really don't know what to do.

In windows right click on COmputer and go to Manage. Then in the left hand panel select Disk Manager. Take a screen shot and post it here so we can see what you have.

Sorry it's an external picture, the internet was acting weird on it and I was done trying to figure it out. Please help me out guys, thank you!

Ok you have a recovery partition, good.

  1. Back up all the files (ALL) that you need and put them on something external like a USB, external hard drive or DVD.
  2. Then right click on the 8.19GB partition and delete partition.
  3. Then right click on the C: and extend the partition fully
  4. Restart your computer
  5. Repeatedly tap the F8 key until you see the Advanced Boot Option Screen.
  6. Select Repair Your Computerand hit Enter.
  7. Select your country >> OK.
  8. On the System Recovery Options Screen select Restore Application.
  9. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  10. When prompted, select on "Full Factory Recovery"
  11. Select Next >> Yes.
