How to run 2 monitors through a laptop?

Hey all,

Brand new here. I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 and I was wondering how I could set it up to run through 2 20" flat panel Dell monitors on my desk. Then I could use a wireless keyboard and mouse as well. I heard that this is a superior way to go. Do I need to buy a new video card or anything? I have one VGA out. If I need to buy a new computer for this, which would you recommend?

Are you wanting both screens to display the same image, or are you wanting to extend your desktop across the whole two screens?

If you just want the same image then you'll proberbly be able to get some form of splitter.
 
I wanted to extend my desktop on two screens. One would show the toolbar on the bottom, and the other I could drag windows onto.
 
there are some usb video cards out there, but most don't offer resolutions above 1024x768, and no 3d accel. That is the only way to have a 3rd monitor on a laptop that I know of.
