How to secure windows from snoopers

Like the title says, how can I secure my windows/Mac osx from being snooped by others, either by connecting to my computer or through my internet/wireless network.

I have avast free antivirus and windows 10 firewall.

I am looking for ways/program that can stop intruders and warn me when intruders arrive.

Depends what method of intrusion you're talking about.

For Wireless use WPA2 AES with a long passphrase. Stuff your PC behind a router (which you already have) with SPI and PAT. Make sure websites where you submit credentials are in HTTPS, use garbage credentials for others like CF. Don't use the same password between services.

Most of the time intrusions/infections are a result of poor browsing habits, or installing malicious programs.
