I new to this forum and I'm not exactly sure if this is the right place to post this but I have a HP g62 notebook pc and everytime I start up to get on the internet a IE8 ad pops up and I have no idea how to stop this. I am a computer beginner so I'd appreciate if everyone could keep it simple. Thanks

Is IE 8 currently installed? Is it asking you to set up its options? Please describe the ad.

adblock

hi. i just downloaded a small program called adblock / adblock plus for IE8. it does seem to stop unwanted ads if thats what your on about. they have one for firefox and one for google chrome too. seems okay so far.

Is it wanting you to upgrage to IE8? Some websites aren't compatible with IE 6 anymore.

Thanks for the replys. I'm just going to download it next time it pops up. I take it that it can't hurt anything

As it turns out I already had IE8 and it was asking to configure it. In the list of programs it is just listed as Internet Explorer 64bit and Internet Explorer, that's what threw me and made me think that I didn't have it. Thanks for the help.
