How to test old components state ?

I want to sell my old PC, how can I make sure all the components are in good state ?
The comp is about 4 years old, here are the specs :
Mobo : GA-965P-DS3
CPU : C2D E6400
RAM : 3 x 1 Go Kingston PC2 - 5300
PSU : Antec Truepower Trio 430W
HDDs & GPU are relatively recent so I don't worry about them.

I had a quick go at O/C and fried a PCI sound card, did it possibly damage other components ?
 
Run the computer. Download and install Prime95 and Memtest, and run them both, for at least an hour a piece, ant separate times. Run a game or something, something that will really exhaust the computer. If there are no crashes then your computer is fine.
 
If you want to know that your computer is in condition or not then you should check the compatibility of it. There is the compatibility option in the start menu -> control panel. From there you can check it.

that will tell you very little.
You need to stress test everything to make sure its working ok

that and just test all teh peripherals and ports
 
the slots probably shot. if you havnt used the comp in a while check the cmos battery it might need replaced, besides that +1 to ^.

This.

however, leave memtest running overnight rather than just for 1 hour. It will allow more passes, and as some errors only show every teen passes, it can take a while for them to appear.

Stress testing, an hour should be plenty, however I would also download HW monitor and check the temperatures while you are testing. Will put links to all of the software below. Prime 95 is a stress testing program.

Put the .exe file on the desktop and run it, click just stress testing, click ok, leave it to do it's thing. While it is running, have HWmonitor open and wait for the temperatures to plateu. If they reach 80+, be worried, you will need to clean out the insides and reaply thermal paste

I ran Prime95 which stopped after < 15min.
Stopped on test 4 on CPU #0 : "FATAL ERROR : Rounding was 8, expected less than 0.4" and on test 5 on CPU #1 : "FATAL ERROR : Resulting sum was 1.42350650312794e+016, expected 1.423508297030382e+016"
"Hardware failure detected" on both. "Consult stress.txt" which I can't find in the Prime95 folder.

Does it look bad ? Is it the CPU that went wrong or is it something else ?
