How to treat my UPS?

So I bought a new UPS 2 days ago [Sweex UPS] and I've heard I should turn it off once 3-4 days If I'm not working on the computer so that the UPS' battery won't get consumed even if it's plugged and being charged.

Is that true?

No, that would defeat the whole point of a UPS. It is meant to powered continuously in readiness for any power outage.
On saying that, most batteries will benefit from a full discharge once in a while but I would be talking months rather than a few days.
