I recently had an athlon 2400+ fitted onto my K7S5A motherboard. The guy in the computer shop informed me that I need to goto www.ecs.com and update my BIOS. Unfortunately I have no idea what file I should download. I also have no clue how to install it. Does anyone have an idea what I must do?

1. Determine the revision of your mobo: the K7S5A comes in two versions the 1.x and the 3.x both of which look damn dear identical: [v1.x:http://www.ecsusa.com/products/k7s5a.html ] [v3.x: http://www.ecsusa.com/products/k7s5a_v3.html] even looking at the ECS site doesnt help much ... it should prolly be stamped on the mobo somewhere though

2. According to http://www.ecsusa.com/downloads it seems the v3.x doesnt have any downloads so you might be outta luck there .. you could prolly use the v1.x bioses but thats your risk

3. Here's a direct link to the latests BIOS for ur board, http://www.ecsusa.com/downloads/bios/k7s5a021001.exe which will support your BIOS

Note that you might not have to flash the BIOS: any BIOS version of at least 02/08/09 will support the XP2400 (you can see the BIOS version at the beginning... or by entering BIOS)
