how to upgrade to windows 7 from XP?

i am wanting to have windows 7 home premium or professional. i currently have windows XP home premium on a computer i made. which CD do i need to do this? and how can i put it on my computer without deleting any of my programs,music,itunes,pictures, ect.? thanks.

You can't. You have two options: upgrade to Vista then 7, or do a fresh install.

fresh install.... does that delete all of my files that are on there?

Yes it would. You would have to back them up to an external hdd or flashdrive. The fresh install will format the drive and install the OS.

I JUST did a fresh Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) install. It went sooo smooth. Only hiccup I had was my 4th harddrive wasn't assigned a letter so I wasn't seeing it in Computer. Got that fixed and everything runs excellent!

$100 from Newegg and do a fresh install. You can buy a 1TB harddrive these days for sooo cheap.
