How to use CD-ROM in DOS/3.11

I was wandering how to get DOS to see a CD-ROM drive?

I have installed MS-DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11 in Microsoft Virtual PC on my desktop so I could play old DOS games off of a CD in it.

I have seen websites like this one:http://www.computerhope.com/cdromd.htm but having a hard time understanding it.

Could someone explain to me how to install the CD-ROM driver in lame man's terms?

Thanks,
Mattu

I don't see what's complicated about that? You simply need to enter what's listed there in your AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files. Just download the NEC drivers as they match what's being used as an example. I beleive the driver disk I used that basically did all this for me was an NEC, and I never remember a time the drivers wouldn't work.

Piece of cake once I figured it out :D

I used the OAK CD-ROM driver (downloaded it to a floppy and copied it to C:\) and edited AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS by simply typing "edit" at dos prompt and using the MS-DOS editor.
