If you boot windows on the pro and load up a game such as counter strike source or battlefield 2 whatever, will it play at the same frame rates as a windows laptop.

my friend has a mackbook, wanted to play css.

Cant due to integrated graphics and that css isn't available in mac versions.

yeh thats not the pro tho, if u run windows on the pro its just like any other laptop with a x1600 graphics card surely?

it runs them fine for the most part. I only installed HL2 just to see it run mainly because gaming on laptops is not my thing. My laptop is my work computer.

I saw a demo of a Mac Pro (desktop) running battlefield 2 and it ran it very very nicely. Those dual xeons killed that game.

You could even probably run CSS on the macbook's integrated graphics chip it just wouldn't run all that great.

css stands for? well macbook pros run games decent, but maybe theyd run bette thrugh windows, on a mac computer with intel hmm.

css stands for counter strike source. And someone has already told me that CCS will not run on the intergrated 950 chip on the macbook pro.

im sure theres a way

just think about back in the day, when games would only run if you had a 3dfx voodoo card, and youd have to use a glide (1st gen opengl) wrapper to "mask" your 3d card and make the game think it was a 3dfx card.

Im sure theres a way to trick it.

A macbookpro will run most games pretty good. I run far cry on full settings and it runs smoothly. Also HL2 will run nicely and most other games.

I personally despise intel gpu's.
They make cpu's, not graphic cards.

Plus you have to get a program that runs windows to run windows based games, then you need a windows OS.

Cause theres no mac version of CSS...or alot of games for that matter.

what?

you can just install windows on a macbook pro or mac pro or any intel mac for that matter.

And for what intel's gpu does it does it well. It is meant for a basic system to run basic things. The 965 express intel video chipset is not that bad, but it is basic.

Yeh you need bootcamp which is a free download from apple, very simple to use, it partions your drive for you and works very well.

You cant just pop in a windows OS.
You need another program to allow that.

like whats been said boot camp is all you need and its a free easy small program from apple. It basically gives driver support for EFI hardware in windows, and its also a boot loader.
