How well does windows firewall perform?

Is it just as good as any downloaded firewall out there? Should I download something else and disable it or just stick with WF?

I use windows firewall and I use nod32 now. Together they perform well. Just about any antivirus comes with a firewall. Windows Firewall alone is prob not enough.

Yeah same here. I'm using Windows Firewall, Nod32, SuperAnti Spyware and Spybot S & D on-demand. No problems of course lol. I wonder what virus would be stupid enough to mess with me, but whatever.

Also, I don't suggest you the Windows Firewall I really strongly suggest you downloaded one; ZoneAlarm, Kerio, Outpost... Any, but get one. Windows Firewall is not as secure as downloaded one.

If you're not that good in security, get the most protection you can.

Like Windows XP, Windows Vista blocks inbound traffic by default. Also like Windows XP, Windows Vista by default allows all outbound traffic but Vista restricts outbound traffic from services that participate in service restriction, and you can write rules to block additional outbound connections.

So basically it's still not up to other Firewalls protection that will stop a malicious program from dialing home.

That sounds like fighting fire with fire. Best thing to do is diable the windows firewall and let Nod32 be the sole firewall and you will see the performance go up.
