How is this stepping, like, is it a known overclocker?

You cant find out the production stepping from CPU-Z... you need to look on the IHS, it should be printed on the second line, four numbers then four letters, then just google it and see where pople have been getting to.
 
yea... that determines which batch the processor was made with.
just try you're luck at overclocking. chances are its not a GREAT overclocker...
mostly the opterons are good at overclocking. a guy on overclock.net got his opty to like 3.4ghz from 2ghz it was ridiculous. of course, its no uncommon now that Core 2 duo is out.. those things overclock like insane.
 
Ya the other good AMD overclocker is the 3700+ sandy. But to really find out if its a good overclocker your just gonna have to try. I mean people can have a ton of success with a chip that you have, but your specific chip might be able to barely overclock.
 
By the way, Ku-Sama, did your OC increase when you changed from the ASUS to the lanparty board?

Hmm, that would be interesting to see. I doubt by much, Asus tends to have pretty good overclockers, dfi just tends to put you in more control over your oc.
 
kinda... it got me to be more stable at 3GHz, but something's f*cked up with either my board or RAM, cause i cant run 1T with my RAM... so im debating weter or not to overclock

Hmm, thats odd. There really is no need to overclock unless you need the extra performance boost. But I started oc'ing like a week and a half ago, and now I am hooked, so most likely my cpu will be OC'ed quite often.

BTW what is the vdimm limit on that mobo. My asus a8n-sli premium stops at 3. But I have UTT BH-5 Ram, so its wants a lot of volts, so I was just wondering if that one could go any higher?
