I just finished building my new computer a day ago and This is really the first time ever I played a game on a computer, and I heard from the games for windows magazine that Steam doesn't work too well with vista, and I have vista as my OS. Is there anything I should really worry about when using steam and vista? anyone else have steam with vista and know?

A friend of mine just purchased a laptop with Vista. While his games run normally (CS:S/DOD:S), he and I both have noticed that Steam freezes up quite frequently. Although annoying, it shouldn't be too much of an issue. Good luck! :P

while i do not have problems, while playing css on my friends computer, about every 10 or 15 minutes an blue screen of death would come up and it would crash the computer. This has since improved but it still happens once in a while, just enough to be annoying.

Well does it matter how good your computer is? cause I don't think laptops run games very well in the first place, I got a pretty high end rig, 8600 GTS 2gb RAM and 2.4GhZ dual core processors.

My computer runs Steam just as my old one did with XP. You can't listen to these articles out there, some are good but then again some are just . I haven't had a problem with Steam yet or Xfire, I run the same programs I ran in XP, without a hitch. I don't know why ppl try throwing off on Vista.

The only issue I've had with Steam is that it won't work in Offline Mode but I haven't updated it in about a month on my laptop. Otherwise it runs fine.
