Hows this card? (Radeon x1650pro)

Right now I just want a cheap mid to low end card (under 100$) until DX10 becomes more necessary. Then I will buy a better card.

How is this one though? Any other suggestions?

I'd look at a 7600GT or a 1650XT. Both of those should be slightly better but still within your price range.

What about DX10 cards? Would a 2600 or 8600 be worthwhile?

No, probably not. Wait for some 8800 prices to drop... or look at the 3870/3850's from ATI.

If you want the X1650 Pro, I'd recommend the 7600GT instead, cheaper and a bit faster, but if you want to save more, take advantage of the cheap prices of the 3850 or even the 3870, I've heard they are in an excellent price/performance ratio...

I know the 3870 is expensive, more than I want to spend. But how would the 3850 compare to high end DX9 cards?

Well, I'd say a 3850 would perform as a mid-high end DX9 card, just my thoughts though. But if you want to get a mid-end card on the DX9 until DX10 becomes more regular, then get the 7600GT they are around $85 US in Newegg and to be sincere, they are amazing... they had the best price/ratio in their time...

3850 is probably it now, seeing it gets like 3x the fps as a 7600gt, and only like 2x as much at msrp
