could i max cod4?

Total is £560

Crysis certainly wouldnt be played on very high, maybe not even high. Not sure about call of duty4

i take it then the processor would be the bottleneck then right?
Surely the 8800GT can max Crysis? in DX10.

If it cant then its not worth its price imo.

To max crysis in DX10, you need a 8800ultra. If you want to pay that kind of money, then go ahead. Right now the 8800GT is the best one you can get with performance vs price being the issue.

The newest intel chips would also be a good choice if you want to max Crysis. But I recently built a system for my stepson that had that same CPU and a 8800gt. It maxed Crysis in DX9 but at only 39fps. Which is still not bad.

do you think the GT could get decent framerates in DX10 on medium?

Thatguy16 is running a mix of high and very high settings with the Radeon 3870 and an AMD chip. Have you considered the ATi card? It's probably a little cheaper.

It should be able to play COD4 on max settings no problem, Crysis i play it on a mix of high/very high at very smooth frames
no way i wouldnt pay £490.86 just for a gfx card....i know you pay for what you get but thats just a rippoff.

I could build a whole new pc for what the 8800Ultra costs alone :D

The GT should be able to do High in DX10 without a problem.

Yeah, i would highly recommend the 3870, its a fantastic card. After a week of decision making, i decided to go with the 3870. Its been proven that it also gives better image quality over the GT, though your average nvidia fan will argue it. Thats a big reason i decided to go with the ATI.

These are the settings i use in Crysis DX10

The 8800gt should be able to play Crysis on High without AA. I played it at very high w/o AA and I lagged only at the last chapter.

Agreed with above. With a bit of overclocking, might get a bit more FPS outta it.

Personally, I'd get a 5600+ and overclock it to a 6000+'s speed. More stable, and overall, better.

can someone please explain something to me?

so if i had 2 ultras in sli then they would get say 30 fps in crysis maxed out?
is that right?

what if it was directX9 and the settings were on high. what would be expected then?

Ultra's can Tri SLi? Hmm... That's new...

Hopefully the 9800's will max it out. :D
uh, yes.
The heart of a 3-way SLI system is an NVIDIA nForce® 680 SLI MCP motherboard and three GeForce 8800 GTX or GeForce 8800 Ultra graphics cards. With 3-way SLI, gamers can harness the power of 384 stream processors, a 110+ gigatexel per second texture fill rate, and over two gigabytes of graphics memory for no-compromise gaming performance.

I don't think there are any boards out yet that do it, but yeah, 3 way sli very soon.

Thanks for the link :)

Yeah, but that's at super high resolutions. One 8800Ultra can max it out at 1280x1024, and a 8800GT can max it out at 1280x1024 with AA and AF at 2x/4x. Price vs. performance, the 3850 512mb is your best card in the $150-$200 price range (not sure what it is in euros, but i'm guessing like 100).
