i just got a new hp monitor that automatically sets to 1280 by 1024 which is to small for my terrible eyes;) but when i set it to 1024 by 768 the text and all gets blurry and weird, but on the other setting it looks fine....any help?!??!

There should be buttons on the monitor which will adjust sharpness, play with then 'til you get something you like.
You can also increase the font size in the desktop properties box.

i tie and none of the buttons have a sharpness option there's only color adjust options and the font adjust just makes larger blurry letters

If you cant adjust it using the buttons on the monitor then this is caused by the refresh rate. Try every refresh rate and see which one is the least blurry. You can get to the refresh rate like this > right click on dektop> properties>settings tab>advanced>monitor>then there is the drop box with the refresh rates. (Make sure to have the box checked where it says," Hide modes that my monitor cannot display.")
Hope this helps!

i tried all the refresh rates but they didn't work, then i unchecked that box and went up to the highest one (200) which made it a tad less blurry but my mouse became super responsive for some reason

you may be on to something becasue look i took a picture of it:

now you don't see anything wrong there but i do when I'm looking at it, so its either a monitor setting or it broke (doubt it)
thanks for the help guys, keep it coming! :D

Tried control panel and putting the resolution on high? My Viewsonic VA902b looked like crap until I cranked up the resolution and hit the auto adjust button, now it's one of the better LCD's I've ever seen.

The reason why its blurry is because unlike CRTs which use an image tube to display what you see, it uses LCDs and the native resolution is how many pixels you have on the physical screen. If the native resolution is 1280 x 1024 then if you were to count em all , your screen would be 1280 pixels wide and 1024 pixels tall. if you go lower than natvie resolution, it has to calculate where to put the lower amount of pixels because you are trying to use less pixels on a screen that requires a certain amount of pixels. This is why it is blurry at lower resolution. You can try to instead leave it at native res and convert XP to use 120 dpi instead of 96 dpi. Just go to Control Panel>Display>Settings>Advanced in the "General" tab there should be 96 dpi, change that to 120 dpi and restart your computer, leave the resolution at 1280 x 1024. This forces XP to use larger fonts and images.

EDIT: Assuming you do have Windows XP, I think other OSs have this option too.
