Hi everybody,

my wife is looking for a decent allround laptop, also fit for photoshopping.
She's interested in the hp dv6-6c50eb.


Any thoughts on that?
I think it's interesting for my own purpose too, but HP doesn't seem to have a good reputation. With reason?

Any alternatives within the same price range (800€/1000$)?

Edit: what about Toshiba Satellite L850-16T ?

I believe that would work for both of your needs, but for the price, I would go for the HP DV6-7014nr. Its just a tad more money, with much better features, such as a 3rd generation i7, 2GB dedicated NVIDIA graphics, Blu-Ray player, and 1080p HD screen along with the Beats audio feature. And as for HP being unreliable, I'm not sure what the hype is about, all I've ever owned are HP's and every one of them works like a charm for exactly what they were designed to do. In any case, that is my opinion, hope I was of help.
 
It's not extremely important, but I always find that having dedicated graphics helps at least a little with everything. It won't make a huge impact on something like photoshopping and such, except maybe make the quality or HD resolution better. In general, for things like that, it's not a necessity. But like I've always thought, if its about the same price with a major difference that helps with performance, I usually jump for it as long as its in my price range. Once again, I hope I helped.
 
Any experiences with Lenovo? Never heard of it until a couple of days ago.

ThinkPad Edge E530 NZQC2MB seems interesting, but don't find a lot of information on it.
 
Lenovo is the replacement for IBM. They are some of the best on the business class, but I don't trust them for the customer market.
 
I'd say Lenovo or Dell. Both extrememly reliable. If you're using Photoshop then it would be better if you had a dedicated graphics card and also more than 4GB of RAM would be ideal.
 
And I suppose I'll throw in my opinion. I would go with HP. Lenovo are great for business like wolf said, but Dell, in my opinion isn't the best option for price, the same performance equivalent of the Dv6-7014nr in Dell form is $500 more expensive. But it's up to you.
