HP dv9500 internet connection issues

First off, I apologize in advance if I leave anything out or are less than articulate in describing the problem. I'm a n00b. :)

I've been having a lot of problems with the wireless internet on my dv9500 laptop. I can only connect to certain networks. With one home network, I usually don't have any problems, but this morning when I went to connect, I got the same problem I get when I try to connect to other wireless networks. It brings up a message that says it can't connect to such and such network and gives me the option of reading Vista's "help" file or picking another network to connect to. Other times it will tell me the signal isn't strong enough, which is definitely not the case because it says the signal strength is excellent. (It's seriously like six feet away from me.) The other laptop in the room has no trouble connecting to this network whatsoever. I was at a small restaurant that had wifi and couldn't connect there either. (With the same error message.) There is no interference.

I am running Vista Home Premium. I have an AMD Turion 64 x2 processor, Broadcom 4321AG 802.11a/b/g/draft-n wifi adapter, and a NVIDIA nforce networking controller. If there's anything else I need to post, let me know.

Any help would be greatly appreciated because I've been battling this for months and as some of you may know, HP's customer service is less than exemplary.

Thanks.
