HP f1703 monitor

Hi all, this is my first post here. I used to be semi-up on computers, but recently have somewhat gotten away from tweaking them. In any case:

Driving around the other night, i found a perfectly good (looking) Hp f1703 computer monitors sitting atop a heap of trash on the curb. I spoke to the owner of the home, and he said that he was experiencing blurriness or shakiness of the picture, and that the monitor was all mine, if i wanted it. I took it home with me. Only to realize (since this is my first LCD monitor) that it needs an AC adapter, which i didnt get. i have the cable which hooks into the computer, but no power adapter. So my questions for you guys:

1) does this problem sound like something that can easily be dealt with, or should i just call it a lost cause before i go to the trouble of buying an AC adapter for it?

2) looking on ebay for an adapter, i found lots of 3rd party knock-offs. are these generally decent enough for use?

Thanks alot for your help. I greatly appreciate it

i would say go for it. you could probably sell the lcd display on ebay as "broken", and get your ac adapter money back if it's not working right. how much were the adapters? as long as all the specs are the same, i see nothing wrong with another brand. if it bugs you, buy the cheapy one just to see, and if all is good, get the better one and resell the cheapy. gotta love ebay for stuff like that.

yeah, you can get more than that by selling the lcd display if it doesn't work the way you want. of course, list it as broken. prople like getting the screens out of them. do a search for broken lcd's on ebay and see what they're going for. i believe trying the monitor would only cost you your tme.
