HP Laptop Battery drains when not in use.

Hi, I have an HP Pavilion 5445. If I let it charge to 100% and then turn it off and unplug it, it will lose about 40% of its charge in just a couple of days of being stored. I tried a new battery but it still does the same thing.

Any idea what is wrong? Thanks!

Sounds like something in your system is draining it then. Either that or you had not one, but two, crappy batteries. How old is the laptop? What model batteries? Have you checked HP's Forums area 9if there is one) and asked if others were having the same issue?

Hello, this happens to me also, I own a HP dv6383ea and the same thing happens.
And it's just 3 months old.
I think that this is normal although I'm not sure what causes this to happen.
Does the computer clock run on battery or does it have it's own battery on the motherboard?
Thanks.
