Hi,

I have HP Pavilion laptop dv2315 with Vista os.. had it for a year now and the computer has been ridiculously slow.. I don't think the performance issues have anything to do with spyware, because I run my spyware check regularly and nothing has been found.. i ran event log today and all the tests are either warning, error or critical.. the error id are
408 (Many processes are using too much system memory
407 (This process is using up too much system memory: )
402 (This process is doing excessive disk activities and is impacting the performance of Windows: )
etc..

Could anyone help me to improve my hp performance?
Thanks a bunch!

go into task manager and under the process tab see what is taking up so much space if it is not important end it

then go run-> msconfig(i dont know if in vista it is different). and see what services you are running and if you dont need them uncheck them. same thing for your startup.

Thanks!
I started doing what you told me, but realized I am not sure which apps I need and which I don't.. can you help me identify what I need to keep? I could send you a list of things running on my pc if that would help..

sure you can send me a list. another thing. how much ram do you have? if you have 1 gig you should also upgrade to 2. vista needs as a minimum 1 gig to run.

my email is my screen name with @gmail.com
