HP Laptop Won't Go To Password Screen

Product Name: HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

• I press the power button.

• Computer powers up.

• I see the Windows 8.1 logo and the doting thingy that goes in a circle.

• After a minute or so, when the password screen is supposed to show up it simply goes blank (black).

Not at this moment but in my regular setup my laptop is usually connected through a HDMI cable to by TV.

See if you can somehow boot to safe mode. Or connect it the way you had it because its sending signal to the wrong screen.
