HP Laptops SUCK!!! now can someone please help me with my drivers?

Talked to him on AIM. He has reformatted Vista with XP, I gave him the correct drivers from the HP website, but wireless does not work. Does not show up in Device Manager either. Any suggestions?

PS - Try scanning for new hardware (My computer -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Hardware)

This was a problem for someone else too. I think it was on these Forums, if not techPowerup. Let me look back a bit and see what I can dig up.

Edit: Sorry, boss. Can't seem to find the Thread on either Forum.

can you turn the wireless either on or off? if you can make sure the switch is in the on position then search for drivers again

I know what this is, I had the exact same problem.
Hp are just mother****ers, they "optimize" everything for vista and get rid of all the other stuff. I'll rar you all the drivers I got and I'm gonna up them just now. They should work, they did the job for me. If oscaryu1 tried it with the drivers mine might not work either but he can give it a shot.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried connecting to the internet with another computer to make sure the modem/router are functioning properly?

It's not important, those drivers are for the DV series and they work for any hp book with xp. Trust me, the Wlan Driver is for a DV6000 or something and it worked on mine which was DV9000 I think. So yea, it depends on the chipset.

Don't quote me on the model numbers, I don't know exactly.

Okay you don't need to be doing this. Just go to HP's website and enter the tech chat with your model number and the nice Costa-Rican man will find them for you.

... Find the drivers? Done. I already lead him to the drivers... but the wireless it not detected...

In other words, driver problem is fixed. Wireless card detection is not.
