HP LaserJet 4 Question

Ok, I've decided to pull out my old laserjet 4, because toner is more cost-effective, any ways, when I print something out, the page looks like the toner was smudged in a band down the whole page, so I printed out a test page, took a pic of it, and heres a link:

notice all of the text on the right side of the page looks very clean, and sharp.

so can you guys tell me if this is a toner cartridge problem, or do I need to service the rollers?

Ok, I figured it out! and just in case any of you still have your HP Laserjet 4 printers that are 18 years old, and 168,213 pages young, there is a small back spongy roller that sits right under the toner cartridge with a blue gear on the left end of it, pull that out, by prying it up by the end with blue gear, and it will pop right out, rinse it well in water, dry it, and put it back in the reverse way of taking it out. and It still prints so crisp, and clean!
