HP man breaks PC.....

lol, my girlfriends pc is broken (wont switch on after shutdown ect, posted the problem here a while ago but couldnt solve it) and she phoned HP people to fix it, well basicly after talkin to him on the phone for like 5 min- he totaly broke the pc!!! he also said that all her info is now erased from her hard drive and there is nothing anyone can do! (what a **** head!) anyway- im 99% sure hes talkin bullsh*t so im goin over tomorro to try to fix it. She said that now when she tries to switch it on it goes to some screen that says somethin like "NT (or NTL,not sure) hardware scan" but it doesnt actually scan it, she left it for hours n nothing. Its kinda breif but anyone have any clues to what could have happened? Im goin to try change all setting tomorro (hope i can get into BIOS) and maybe clear CMOS(dunno if that will help) and if that dont work ill take the HDD out and hook it up to my PC as a slave.
 
reset jumper? i dont know where that is lol, well i can prob find it on my system but dont have the manual for hers....u think CMOS clear would sort the problem?
 
i think the guy on the phone probably formatted the hard drive, it sounds like there is nothing on the rive and the BIOS/CMOS is trying to hgelp out by doing that wierd NT Scan thingy.

You sure it doesn't say Missing NTLDR or something to that effect?

P.s. Maybe he told her to reformat and re-install, in that case her data is gone unless you want to take the time to recover it (if it hasn't been writen over).
 
naa she didnt format it- she said he told her to press f11 and them choose something and that fuc**d it.......illl go over tomorro and if i dont manage to fix it ill at least have some info on the error its giving etc....
