HP Mic Not Working?

I wanted to upgrade to a new headset so i went to bestbuy yesterday and bought a HP headset with mic.

I hooked it all up correctly, I can hear in the headset but wene i try to talk to buddies on call of duty 4 they can't hear me at all.

I have went into sound section on PC and everything i can think of but i can't get it to work.

Looked at some web sites and looked like a lot of people had problems geting this Mic to work on this headset but didn't find any answers to the problem.

I am running Windows Vista also.

Any help?
 
yes, there is help.

While in a MP game in COD4, go to the options and find voice chat. In the right hand side, there is a mic level, speak into your mic...really closely, the level should jump.

If it doesn't, start.all programs, accesories, entertainment, sound recorder (edit: Saw u had vista, in the search box in the start ment, type in sound record. A program should be there, use it, and press record, speak into your headset, it should work definetely.

If not, try switching the ports on your sound card.

Ya i play MP i already went there and tried that stuff.Was to lazy to hook up to back panel but looks like ima have to.

Will let ya know.
 
Do you have realtek audio for sound , if so you may have to open it up and make sure your mic is getting pick up by it and make sure it is set as default mic. this should do it, if not let me know.:cool:
