HP pavilion 412.uk memory upgrade fault

i have just bought a 512mb stick for my pc but now every 5 mins or so the computer resets itself.

Its the same type of memory as what was in it before - pc2100.

Is there anything i need/should of done to update the system?

well... did u buy the right type of ram?
try reseating the ram again and see if that helps
