HP Pavilion dv9000 motherboard SATA controler speed?

I am wondering if the SATA interface on the motherboard on a HP Pavalion dv9000 is a 3.0 GB/s interface or a 1.5 GB/s one. The hard drives that came stock with the computer are 1.5 gbps drives. I bought a Seagate Momentus XT which is set to 3.0 gbps stock and I need to know if it will work with the computer or if I have to soldier the jumpers to limit down to 1.5 gbps.

It's my understanding that the new hard drive should work. Your new hard drive should automatically "step down" in speed to 1.5 gbps.

Also, it's gbps, not GB/s. Those are two different things, and two completely different speeds.

GB/s= gigabytes per second.

gbps= gigabits per second.

Just uh, throwing that out there.

as said above it automatically clocks down and i think sata 2 was released late 2006 so anything prior to that will be sata 1.5
