HP Pavilion Elite m9340f network adapter Vista 64bit

Hi, all. First timer. My desktop all of a sudden will not connect to the internet via the wired network adapter (Realtek). I checked the BIOS, and everything is enabled. I cleared the CMOS, and that gave me back my icon for my Realtek adapter under Network Adapters in the Device manager (yesterday it had disappeared from there). But now there is a yellow exclamation point that won't go away. I have managed to install the latest drivers for it, so I don't know what else the problem could be. The device status says "This device cannot start (Code 10)". If the computer can find it, and thus list it under network adapters in Device Manager, and if the drivers are up to date, then why can't the device start? Other than being told it can't start and "This device has a problem" I'm not getting any more useful error messages. HELP, please!! I want my internet connection back on this computer. Everything else is fine. Thanks! P.S. The adapter is Realtek RTL8168C(P) Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC.

I have downloaded and installed that driver, and nothing has changed. As I mentioned in a previous post, my computer says that the drivers are up to date. That doesn't seem to be the issue; that's why I can't figure out what the issue is. If not the drivers then what could be making the ethernet card not function properly? This is nightmare over something seemingly small.

Frustrated.

Go into add/remove programs and uninstall the software for the network card which will uninstall the driver, it may be corrupted. Then reinstall the driver using the downloaded file I linked you too. If it still won't work, you may have a hardware problem with it and you need to buy a dedicated nic card.

I own a HP Compaq m9340f, and have faced the same issue after installing Vista 32bit version ( soon I will purchase Windows 7)
I followed the instructions, uninstalling Realtek PCI ethernet driver. Then, from another PC with internet access, I downloaded the link and save it on a USB flash drive. Thus, I uploaded that link to my HP m9340f and I got a message saying that the driver for the Realtek PCI ethernet card was installed and ready to be used.
Finally, I restarted my PC again and now I'm connected to the web again!!!
Thanks a lot for the easy advice and making available a driver that was not even available on Realtek's website to easy download.
Cheers!
C :)
