HP Pavilion Operating System

I have a HP Laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium. I do not like Vista and besides I cannot use Vista for a very important piece of software in my business. The usb driver for my cash register will not work with Vista so I can only run my register manually, negating many important features.

I have XP Professional which I can install on the laptop but I fear that XP will not have all the drivers for the laptop. The main concern being the wireless network card. Since I am actually going backwards from Vista to XP, I fear I may lose features on the laptop because all the drivers are not available for XP.

Can anyone lend any insight. I feel like a Catch 22 situation is at hand.

First, would need to know what model of Hp laptop you have. And as you have already said, there may be some hardware that might not have xp drivers. Give me the model number of laptop and I'll do some searching for you.

In this case, I would recommend going to Win 7 Pro in order to get "XP Mode" which is a virtualized machine that includes a fully-licensed copy of Win XP. Using "XP mode" should allow the cash register software to work. There shouldn't be a driver issue with Win 7 since Vista/Win 7 drivers are generally interchangeable.
