hp pavillion a6150y graphics card help

wanted to use two monitors. i was thinking of an nvidia 8500gt 1 gig graphics card. not sure if this will let me use 2 monitors? cant seem to find info on what graphics card to use so i have 2 monitor outputs. i see the 8500gt card only has 1 output for monitor....any advic e appreciated, thanks
 
like what monkey said, any card with dual outputs, and dont get a 1 gig of video ram of a card like the 8500

On some cards yes, but it is a waste on a crappy card like an 8500GT. If it was a 9800GTX, 1GB would be great, but on a 8500GT, it isn't going to do much for you. BTW, the 8500GT you linked can support dual monitors. It has DVI, VGA, and S-Video outputs.

i only saw one plug on the picture of the card i linked to that matches the 2plugs on my monitors. i use an adaptere to switch to the same type of plug on both monitors?

and how do i know good cards from bad? how much memory i need with the 8500gt? i dont know anything bout video cards....im confused....

Yea, you can use a DVI-to-VGA (White to Blue) adapter, which should come with the card. How much are you wanting to spend on a card?
 
^^ One's GDDR2 and one's GDDR3.

For $10 more, you get GDDR3 memory which is suppose to be a bit faster.


The difference between GT and GTS is that GT does not require the 6 pin power cable and the GTS does.

Also the GTS is faster than the GT.

GDDR2 is older and GDDR3 is newer?

and whats the difference in plugs? one you dont need a sepoerate plug for the power, and one you do? i thought the plugs were 4 pins like on my old hard drive? is there a new type of plug with 6 pins? thanks, apprecaite the help
