HP Pavillion issues

I reloaded windows Vista on a HP Pavillion laptop. After, the wireless is dead, the Ethernet is dead and the dialup modem was dead.
I downloaded the modem driver from HP on another PC with CD and it's OK now. But I have tried all five network drivers hp has for this model and none of the drivers see the ethernet port device or the wireless module device.
I need to upgrade the graphics driver and others but at dial up speeds its 12 hours each.
I've tried downloading each driver by itself to a CD and tried with failure to install the driver program on the laptop.

The main problem the laptop sees is the driver erorrs are saying the device installed is not the same as the drivers just installed.

The laptop is original hp without changes, yet the HP drivers refuse to see or identify the device.

The service manual shows certain devices installed for this model, but the drivers don't see the factory installed devices.

The only and best advice I can offer you, is to get rid of the Vista and get Windows 7 Home Edt. Then you will find everything will work correctly.:)

Have you installed the chipset driver yet?

This will also install your integrated lan driver since its Nvidia.

There is actually only 3 wireless drivers to choose from. Do you remember which wireless driver you had previously? Installing the chipset driver should help with installing the wireless driver. If you don't know which driver you had, let me know and I can help you figure out which one you have.

Broadcom - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...dlc=en&cc=us&os=2093&product=3647018&sw_lang=

Intel - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...dlc=en&cc=us&os=2093&product=3647018&sw_lang=

Atheros - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...dlc=en&cc=us&os=2093&product=3647018&sw_lang=

I'm downloading to a CD now

I'm downloading the chipset driver on another pc now and i'll post when it's done and before I try to install in the laptop.

thanks

I got Ethernet!!

WOW!

So simple, it worked, the ethernet works now.

I seached HP and everything I tried failed.

I'll try the next step now.... that I have DSL working.

Back to life

This post is comming from the once DSL dead HP laptop.

I now have high speed internet on the ethernet port again, Big change from using the old dialup port.

I still want to restore the wireless connection, and finally get the LCD screen back together.

Please help

Right click on the device in device manager that still needs a driver and click on properties, click on the details tab, in the properties box, change it to hardware ids and give me the 4 digit vendor and device Id numbers.

They will look similar to this.

pci\ven_8086&dev_4232

?

under the ethernet problem pci\ven_168C&DEV (+more)

under base system device pci\ven_1180&DEV (+more)

The ethernet port is already working great, but the above mentioned are under the "Other Devices" that are not working.

The wireless problem may be one of these...

Thanks

pci\ven_1180&DEV_001C&SSUBSYS_137AC&REV_01 is the real ethernet the other number in the above post is the base system device, sorry
