I got a xp cd and installed it on the hp PC(AMD) after reformatting the harddisk using the reformatting options that came with the xp. the installing process finished without any problem but the problem started after the computer restarted. I got this error

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:\

Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drive or drive controllers. Check your hard drive to ake sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

all the parts in the HP pc is original that came with it when i got it a year ago.
Anybody know what is going on? how can i fix it?

EDIT: the hardisk is a sata drive.

I got the same problem when i build my pc about a month ago, it was because i installed the xp on the harddisk in a different pc and moved the harddisk to the newly build cd. but the problem was fixed after i formate the hardick and installed the xp again.
