HP software install trouble/explorer 8

Hello,

I just purchased an HP c5580 printer but the software will not install...keep getting errors. I called HP and after they did their research, they determined that it's because I recently downloaded internet explorer 8. They say I need to go back to 7, but how can I do that? Microsoft only offers 8 now. The HP tech said that there are some fixxes out there, but I need to find them (kinda lame). Does anyone know of a fix for this problem or how I can go back to explorer 7? Thanks for any help!!

Microsoft doesn't only offer IE8 now, it's still in Beta and not due the full version until at least next month. IE7 can be got here if needed but to go back to IE7 you should go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall IE8, this will then automatically revert to the previous version of 7.

Hello...thanks for the reply. If you go to the microsoft site and click on IE7, it automattically brings up IE8? Is there any way to get 7? Also, if I go to add/remove it doesn't even show IE on the list?

Doesn't it show up as "Windows Internet Explorer" in Add/Remove ?

Are you running Vista or XP ?

I think now that he may have Vista, in which case there is no download for IE7 specifically for that OS, again it should be in Add/Remove

There is no "windows IE" in add/remove. Yes, this is Vista...sorry, I should have mentioned that. Looks like I'm kinda stuck...

No probs, in Vista IE8 should be categorised as an update and not a program. Try this.

To uninstall Internet Explorer 8, go to Control Panel, and click on Uninstall Programs link or Programs and Features icon. Then on Tasks pane on the left, click on View installed updates link. Locate and select Windows Internet Explorer 8 in the list of installed updates, and then click on Uninstall button. Click on Yes when asked that are you sure want to uninstall the update.
