HP8470p SD card reader problem

The card reader doesn't recognize the SD card on hot swap. But if I leave the card there and reboot it will show up in File Explorer.

After reboot, when the card is recognized, I popped it out and popped it in again, it is a not go then.

When it is not recognized, DM doesen't show the drive neither.

What's wrong and how to fix?

Most.likely the reader. I have a usb one that does the same thing.

On a laptop, not so simple. I would actually just buy a decent usb card reader and hope it works correctly. Mine is old and hardly ever use it so I'm not too concerned about it.
