Ok, so Im about ready to order and I just need someone with more knowledge then me to triple check what Ive got. Please feel free to make any suggestions. Keep in mind that money influences my purchases so if you see something that I could do better with, let me know!

This PC will be permanantley on and operate as a personal video recorder, music player, dvd player, and It will also upconvert my signal into HD.

I would suggest that you get a lower powered cpu, maybe a sempron, as it will produce less heat.

Also, if you want to keep it on 24/7, maybe you should invest in a better heatsink, maybe something that's near silent.

i dont think he would need anything better than the stock heatsink just because its on 24/7. my old dell was on 24/7 with stock heatsink.

you have too much ram, and too good a cpu. Could afford to cut these significantly.

Yes but I would guess he'll want it near silent, since it's just sitting there next to his TV. Either way, the system he built is an overkill and could be reduced in many ways to save money and reduce heat production.
