Htpc

Yeah, its a nice price for sure!

All depends what you are gonna do.

I'm actually building my own HTPC right now but, I'm going all out with an ASUS gene 3 and core i5 cpu..I'm at 400.00 thus far for just that.

I went with Silverstone for my chassis too which is more..

But your parts are certainly good and for that price, its nice and manageable on a budget!

I'm not going to do any heavy gaming, planning to use it mostly to surf the web and stream movies from my network attached hard drive,And i want the mobo to have and hdmi to properly display the image in my tv and also an optical S/PDIF out.I have some memory at home but don't remember the specs, will post them later maybe I'll be able to use it.

Whatever way you go, an HTPC is sweet and honestly..I'm done with my gaming phase..I'm 28 and just want to keep my laptop for travel, sell my 2 towers and use a new, high-end custom htpc as my media center with the big screen in my living/rec room. Everything wifi and have it blend in with my stereo.etc.

Thats really the appeal for me,

That is good.
You should consider GIGABYTE GA-MA785GMT-UD2H/ GIGABYTE GA-MA785GPMT-UD2H. They run DDR3 RAM instead. The DDR2 RAM start rising and the DDR3 price is dropping

ok thanks for the feedback. any combo suggestions on the gigabyte board (mobo, processor, and ram) i was going to use the other mobo because i have two gigs of ddr2 laying around but i can't find them. the case that i have is Antec NSK 2480.i also have a cheap radeon hd3450 graphics card.also would like to step up the processor but i guess it would be hard with a 250 budget for the board ram and processor.

That's a pretty good choice for HTPC, you can probably easily cool that chip passively to keep the noise levels down in your case.

What other components are you planning to throw in there?

OK I will try and order them later on tonight. for now that's about it, I'm planning to use a dvd burner and an hd that i have laying around, unless you gurus could recommend any good deals out there.the less money the best as I already have a desktop and a laptop pc. I don't need blu ray as i have my ps3 to play blu rays. i don't think i will have any problems with noise according to the reviews the case is pretty well designed.
I forgot to add that there is a Fry's electronics Store nearby,if you guys know of any deals going on.
