huge and annying problem with my AMD ALTHLON 3000+ 64bit

right now im on my laptop..i recently put together a Gigabyte k8 trition nforce 3 250 chipset AMD athlon 64bit 3000+ machine...its nice...but i got a gigantic problem......i put 1 gig of ddr400 in it (kingston 512x2) and i kept getting memory dump errors so....i called microsoft cuz i got XP pro service pack 2 and i was like what the hell.....they said it could be a video card or a bad stick of ram so i got a new video card ATI radeon 9550 256 8x agp...took it back got the same thing said it was bad the original one...same thing.....so i thought it wa sa stick of ram so i took 1 out and it ran fine for a week....so i took that one out and i kept the other in and it ran fine fro a week....so i was like what the hell....so than i call gigabyte they said it might be a bad memory slot on the mother bord to send it in so i did and it came back nothing wrong....so i went and took back my old ram and got new and still the same thing.....if anyone knows how to fix this it would be much liked...all i want it for is gameing but in the middle of the game i get memory dump errors.....thanks for your time...

Change the default memory controller settings either by changing them in BIOS, resetting BIOS to failsafes or hard-resetting the BIOS. You may/should also boot up with 1 DIMM, flash to the latest BIOS as well to have it support the newer memory controller your chip is (suspected) to be packing

Also, run a few loops through memtest86, you can find it here
 
how do i do all that.....cuz i never really messed with a 64bit system i dont know to much about them i only had mine for a month and i got nothing but problems lol....im thinkin about going back to my p4 3.2 ghz lol.....

1. 64bit has nothing to do with it.
2. See manual about how to reset BIOS. :)
 
If after all that you're still having problems, try running the system in it's basic state: PSU, Mobo, CPU, ram, video, keyboard :)
 
alright Ive done Everything and i still got the same problem....now i switched the ram around in the slots to think maybee i got a bad slot on the mother board nope SAME problem....i even got new ram AGAIN same problem....so what the heck is going on here lol.....

well i found out what the problem was.....I had high density memeory in and it needed low lol so yeah thanks everyone for there help.....it was just a dumb move by me..
