Huge COmputer Problem please help :(

alright so my moms boyfriend installed servce pack 2, which was a definite no and it has screwed up there computer horrible....... we cant do a system restore, we cant access my documents, we can basically on use commnad prompt to open programs, and restore wont open eitherway...... were tryiong to unistall it but weve waited bout 3 hours with it saying inspecting your current configuration, we just restarted it

1. does anyone have any suggestions

also if nothing seems to work how hard will it be to put th harddrive in my computer there both amd, mines 3200, theres is 2800, not much difference for configurations, but will it load so i can access files?

i had a problem so i tried to put my hard drive in another computer but the security was too good and i couldnt get my files so i ended up losing them and reformatting
 
If the repair fails, you should still be able to remove the hard drive, place it into another computer, make sure it's detected by the BIOS, and then boot from your normal hard drive. The "new drive" should be detected by Windows and you should be able to access it and recover all of the files you need, after doing that, put the drive back into the original computer and use the Windows XP CD to format it and reinstall.

Service Pack 2 should have not messed XP up. I would imagine the reason it did was because either XP was damaged somehow, either by itself or by a virus or spyware infection.
