Huge internet lag and norton antivirus wont enable

The past couple of days whenever I get on my computer and try to use the internet I get huge lag spikes and I cant do anything, I have norton 360 and I right click it on my tray and it has "enable antivirus auto-protect" but its grayed out so I cant do it. I go into the options and click on for antispyware, hit apply, and it goes back to off. Norton says I have 4 problems and when i hit fix, it says it does norton options and tries to do an update with it says completes too, but then when i go back to the menu it still has the 4 problems, also under definitions update it says not available. I think I might have a virus someone help :(
 
Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here or here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. Please keep updating until it says you have the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • A log will be saved automatically which you can access by clicking on the Logs tab within Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

If you continue to experience problems after doing this, please post a HijackThis log by doing the following:

Download the HijackThis installer from here.
Run the installer and choose Install, indicating that you accept the licence agreement. The installer will place a shortcut on your desktop and launch HijackThis.

Click Do a system scan and save a logfile

Most of what HijackThis lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Post the logfile that HijackThis produces along with the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log
 
I got a fix from norton for the antivirus and its working now, lag seems to have stopped but i dont know how that would have effected it in the first place, Ill see if malwarebytes finds anything.

You can try doing 2 things.

1. Download and run Ccleaner and let it delete all your old temp files and such.

2. Reboot your modem/router to see if that helps.

You have old files of avg still on your system. Look in add/remove programs to see if it still needs to be uninstalled or you need to download avg remover

Try updating your lan or wireless driver depending on how you are connecting to the router.
 
I dont know how to do that, Im a complete idiot when it comes to drivers and stuff like that

Well.. Im looking at my norton menu right now, and it looks like it has been doing definition updates constantly (I have no idea why) for the past couple of days, causing my computer to completely lag out, Im just gonna get this piece of shit off my computer, thanks for all the help :D
 
Im at a loss here myself, I did all of that, and I still seem to have random lag spikes that practically disconnect me from the internet for a few seconds, the only thing I could think of would be a program downloading in the background but I havent found anything of that sort. Ive even tuned up my services, disabling ones known to screw up your comp.
