huge screen

i accidentally did something wrong while i was trying to fix the spacing between my icons and now everything looks huge and i tried fixing everything manually from the display appearance and i fixed most of the things however my attempts to fix the start menu were not unsuccessful. it is still huge and i can't see so many icons there because of its size. i tried doing that from the display settings but still can't fix it. please let me know how to fix this problem.

Are you running XP? Have you tried doing the system restore and going back before you altered the settings?

yes i'm using xp i tried system restore but nothing happen it gave me a message that says nothing happened

What did you change? The DPI? Did you try to just set it to "Normal Size(72dpi)"

Try right clicking on your desktop...choose properties.

Go to the appearance tab and then to advanced. Try to find an option that allows you to change your dots per inch (DPI) to 90. I'm guessing it's at 120 right now.

You might even be able to reset it by changing your resolution to say 1280 by 800 pixels and hitting apply. It should reset.

i don't know why i can't take a picture if the start menu . . but as you can see here the X, - , are huge, i can fix them from advanced but the start is still big
