Hughs net is satellite internet. Will be slower and somewhat costlier than say dsl or cable. Will have high ping times.

Yeah even though say their up and down is comparable to a DSL it will still be slower because of the latency of the satellites... you would hate it if you game.

If you just surf the web and what not it is better than dial up but if you like to play games online don't even think about it lol people i've seen with satellite get on average 500-700 ping

I have comcast now but am moving so thought i might change if it was better. I guess i will keep my comcast. Thanks for the help guys.

You'll regret it if you change to satellite internet, it sucks. I had friends who had it and it was really bad.

Satellite internet is crap, for starters your talking anywhere from 750-1000ms lag if not more(1000ms= one second). Second, you will be capped at downloading, so good luck if you want to be watching streaming movies such as netflix instant or watching youtube videos. Third, the costs are outrageous for what your getting.

satellite internet is craptacular(i see that point has been given) but it is just terrible, and highly over priced, if you already have charter, don't bother with it, it's more for people in rural areas, and the download cap is just absurd(i think the $50/month package is like 6gb cap)

Nothing mixes with satellite!
Eh, ive been running DirecTV for television for years, cant satellite for HD in my opinion. Mine has gone out three times, once an idiot hit it with a potato gun, the other two times it was because of really heavy thunderstorms(eg- power was flickering at the same time).

Wth is a "potato gun"? Seriously :P

We had some 'potato gun' that you'd put little spuds in and with the pressure behind the spud, pulling the trigger would launch it... but I doubt it could mess up a dish.

I have dish net work and never loose signal.I have had it for almost two years and it has never went out.
And your point? Cable and DSL are much more reliable, cost less, have higher download/upload speeds, and higher monthly caps.
