Why do people turn this off? wads the advantage? keep their processor cooler?

It does wonders .... if you do multiple ultra-high-CPU-intensive tasks simultaneouslyHt doesnt do much I guess then....

Threads are a software thing and have nothing to do withthe hardware side. Consider for instance Linux which doesnt support HT (as well) ... as far as Linux is concerned, the P4HT is the same as the P4 ... and you can OC it regardless.It doesn't work as well with overclocking, because of the "multiple threads"
Well if you're doing stuff that makes use of HT (i.e., super intensive CPU stuffos), its gonna heat up period, HT or otherwise.The CPU will quickly heat, faster than it would without hyperthreading
