I altered a picure, how do (can) I make it original again?

Here is what happened. I put a flash card into my printer, my pictures appeared on my computer, I moved one to Paint and doodled on it.

I saved it because I thought it was a copy of the original. It turns out it wasn't. Now, whenever I view the pictures, even on the camera's LCD screen, that picture still has the scribbles on it.

Is there any way I can get the picture back to its original state, or is it changed for good?

When you saved it, you overwrote the original so now the original is lost for good.

You may be able to Photoshop out the offending scribbles, but you'll have to do it manually, and depending on how bad it is, it may take some significant amount of time.
